CAMPAIGNERS against a Tesco development in Ashtead are calling on people to voice their concerns about parking issues.

Planning permission for a new 750 square-metre store in the village was granted after a public enquiry.

But the inspector said that the development could only go ahead once Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) had relocated the existing 74 long-term spaces at Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall car park.

With the store’s proposed 181 spaces being limited to four-hour short-term parking, Save Ashtead’s Village Environment (SAVE) and Ashtead Residents’ Association (ARA) feel the loss of long-term parking would have a severe effect on the village.

So the two groups have teamed up to gather the views of residents and businesses before handing their results to the council.
